Welcome to the Stereo Artisan’s Vintage Audio Workshop!

I’m Eric, the owner, hands-on technician, and fellow vintage audio enthusiast behind Stereo Artisan—a dedicated independent workshop in Brampton, proudly serving the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding communities.

Here at Stereo Artisan, the goal is to help your vintage audio equipment perform at its highest sonic potential, not just functioning properly but delivering the best sound it’s capable of, so you can enjoy a more satisfying listening experience. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in the right place.

Whether you’re an audiophile, a passionate music lover, or simply someone who wants to get the very best from vintage audio, there’s a tailored service for you at Stereo Artisan.

From a cherished family heirloom to the centerpiece of your collection or the dream component you’ve spent years searching for, every piece receives the most appropriate care to help it perform at its best—so you can continue enjoying everything that makes vintage audio so rewarding.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

No two pieces of vintage audio are exactly alike. Decades of history—including ownership, listening habits, storage conditions, previous repairs, modifications, and natural component aging—have given every unit its own unique condition.

That’s why I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.

Every service recommendation is tailored specifically to your equipment, its condition, and your goals—whether it requires preventive maintenance, a precision repair, a targeted rebuild, a comprehensive restoration, or a thoughtful combination of these services.

Whatever the recommendation, the objective remains the same: helping your vintage audio perform at its best, so you can simply sit back, relax, and enjoy the music.

HOW I WORK

Every repair and restoration follows a structured process because vintage audio equipment is rarely straightforward to service. Limited accessibility, the need to identify replacement parts, and the sequence of work all require careful planning. A methodical approach helps the project progress smoothly, reduces the chance of important details being overlooked, and ensures every stage receives the attention it deserves.

1. Bench Evaluation

Every vintage audio component has its own history, and appearances alone don’t reveal its true condition. The Bench Evaluation provides a comprehensive assessment of your equipment’s overall health, helping identify existing issues, signs of aging, and areas that may require attention. These findings form the foundation for every service recommendation that follows.

2. Communication

Once the Bench Evaluation is complete, you’ll receive a report outlining the findings along with service recommendations tailored to your equipment. The recommended work, estimated cost, and available options are discussed with you before any servicing begins. No work proceeds without your approval.

3. Planning

After approval, a service plan is prepared based on your equipment’s specific needs. The scope of work is organized, the required parts are identified, and the servicing sequence is planned to ensure an efficient and methodical workflow.

4. Execution

The approved work is carried out with careful attention to detail, following the service plan established for your equipment. Each stage is completed methodically to maintain consistency, reliability, and workmanship throughout the project.

5. Testing and Verification

After restoration work is completed, the equipment undergoes testing to verify proper operation and stability.

Measurements, listening checks, and extended operation help confirm that the component is performing as expected and ready to return to regular use.

SERVICES

TARGETED REBUILD (Proactive Repair)

When a fault is traced to a specific circuit section, rebuilding that board often provides the most reliable solution. Components that age together are serviced together, reducing the likelihood of repeat failures.
